Pi Network faces growing scrutiny over its decentralization claims as Vietnam emerges as the dominant hub for node operations. With 154 of the network’s 319 global nodes—48.2% of total infrastructure—concentrated in one country, concerns mount about vulnerability to regional regulatory changes.

Vietnamese authorities currently ban Pi Coin for payments, putting node operators at legal risk. Upcoming cryptocurrency custody regulations could further destabilize operations, potentially causing network-wide disruptions.

Governance issues add to these risks. With only two validator nodes under Core team control, Pi Network balances between centralized oversight and distributed operations. This geographic concentration challenges blockchain principles as the network becomes increasingly reliant on Vietnamese infrastructure.
